Background:A fixed dose of sildenafil (Viagra®) is administered to the patients with erectile dysfunction (ED). The objective of this study was to determine the effect of sildenafil on the cardiovascular safety in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED).
Method:A total of 1,067 patients with ED were enrolled in this study and were randomly assigned to receive sildenafil, sildenafil + nitrate (Viagra®), or placebo. The study was double-blind, in-vitro, and in-vitro. Sildenafil was administered to patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) in two doses, 100 mg and 200 mg, followed by a 20-mg dose of placebo (placebo) on an interval of 6, 12, and 18 months. The primary endpoint was change in QT interval of the ECG, which was evaluated using the ECG-RSV chart. Secondary endpoints were the changes in QTc interval. The primary and secondary endpoints were the difference in QTc between sildenafil and placebo, the incidence of myocardial infarction and the rate of syncope. The results of this study are consistent with those of previous studies of Viagra® in ED, and we believe it is a reasonable finding that sildenafil, sildenafil + nitrate (Viagra®) is associated with a lower risk of myocardial infarction, which may also be associated with lower rates of syncope. The findings should be considered for all patients with ED who are currently taking Viagra® and who are taking nitrates.
Conclusion:Sildenafil, sildenafil + nitrate (Viagra®) is an effective treatment for ED and its adverse effects are lower than those of nitrates. It is recommended that sildenafil, sildenafil + nitrate (Viagra®) be administered only to patients with ED who have not already had a heart attack, or who are currently taking nitrate drugs.

The sildenafil + nitrate group was significantly more likely to have myocardial infarction compared to the placebo group (23.9% vs. 10.2%, P<0.001).
